Leading research expeditions into the deepest reaches of the tall grass, building secret hideaways amongst the bushes, summiting the highest reaches of trees, and racing beetles. These are just some of the activities that have become lost to the children of our generation. We at the Moorwiese want to offer them the opportunity to experience the magic and adventure of the outdoors again. Here, the lessons they will learn will stimulate all the senses and the memories they will create will become the foundation of a lifelong ecological awareness.

The Moorwiese is a pedagogically supervised "Adventure Playground" open afternoons Wednesday to Satturday to children and teenagers from the ages of 6 to 16. Children can build huts or play with the elements of wind, earth, water, and air. They can  try their hand at traditional crafts and skills. All activities are offered free of charge.

The Moorwiese is also an "Archeological Playground." Here, the children can relive the Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age, and the early Medival Ages, which coincidentally dovetails nicely with the archeological history and finds of Berlin-Buch. Together, we reconstruct buildings from the above mentioned time periods, fletch arrows, shoot bows, throw spears and cast tin. In addition to the public offerings on the afternoons during the week we also hold activity-oriented classes for school groups, at cost.

A central concept of the "Adventure Playground" is the nurturing of the child's sense of independence. To that end we request that your child be allowed to play unaccompanied. Families are invited to join in on the fun on the weekends or to celebrate a birthday with us. If you and your child are visiting us for the first time we would be happy to address any questions or concerns.
